US Consulate Jeddah participates in Earth Day activities
Earth Day 2009
US Consulate General Jeddah was pleased to participate in Earth Day activities from April 19-22, 2009. The Consulate worked closely with several Saudi organizations including Meteorology & Environmental Protection Department, the Saudi Environmental Society, the Reef Chief, the Environment Youth Club, the Royal Commission, Priority Option and others.
The 2009 Earth Day program in Jeddah was a success and generated a high level of local support and interest. Over 400 students, Municipality representatives, professionals and others volunteered in the Earth Day Out-Door Activity: "Cleaning the entireness of Jeddah from plastic bags" located in North Obhor.
The 2009 Earth Day program was extensive and began with an Opening Ceremony at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry inaugurated by HRH Prince Turki Bin Nassir. Special speaker and lecturer sessions also took place at the JCCI Ishmael Abo Dawood Hall auditorium. The Earth Day activities concluded with an Award Ceremony for children's Earth Day Art Competition.
