Ilene Evans Live in US Consulate Jeddah
The evening of Saturday , February 7th was a phenomenal one for employees of the US Consulate, Jeddah and their honored guests.
Ilene Evans, African-American singer and story-teller, visited Saudi Arabia in early February and performed at the US Embassy in Riyadh, the US Consulate in Dhahran and the US Consulate in Jeddah for a number of audiences including the media, educators and artists.
In Jeddah, Ilene Evans started her one-woman performance, titled Harvest of Dreams, with a heartfelt poem that tells the story of Harriet Tubman (1820-1913), a runaway slave from Maryland, who led hundreds of slaves to freedom over the course of 10 years.
Through her depictions of resiliency and courage, Ilene visibly connected with audiences on both personal and emotional levels.
