June 19, 2007
The U.S. Consul General, Tatiana C. Gfoeller, recently delivered the commencement address to graduating students at the American International School of Jeddah. The Consul General was welcomed and introduced by the Chairman of the School Board, Dr. Khaldoun Mhaimeed. This was the second class to graduate from the newly established American International School of Jeddah.
The Consul General thanked and congratulated the members of the Board, school administrators, faculty, parents, and especially the students on this momentous event in their young lives. In addressing the students, Gfoeller stressed the importance of career goals, focus, and discipline. She remarked that it is really important to identify what you want to do professionally early on and to continually work towards that goal. Consul General Gfoeller reflected upon her decision as a young woman to pursue a career in diplomacy. Through that early vision and a lot of hard work she is now living her dream and is delighted to be the Chief U.S. Diplomat in the Makkah Region.
In closing, Consul General Gfoeller reminded the students that, "regardless of what each student intends to do with their lives, the best route to a happy fulfilling life is to treat all others as you would like to be treated." Ms. Gfoeller added, "The more love you give, the more you will receive."
