On 17 June 2007 U.S. Consul General Tatiana Gfoeller visited one of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) desalination plants in Jeddah. Consul General Gfoeller was hosted by Director General Engineer Abdul Hadi Al-Sheikh and Jeddah Province Plants Manager Mohammad Ahmed Farhan AlGhamdi. Director General Al-Sheikh and Manager AlGhamdi discussed with the Consul General how SWCC is working to provide Jeddah, and all of Saudi Arabia, with the most fundamental part of life- water.
The Consul General learned about the pioneering role SWCC plays in the field of water desalination, and was fascinated to learn about the plant’s capacity to produce not only water for the city, but electricity as well. After Director General Al-Sheikh and Manager AlGhamdi described the future projects the Corporation is planning in order to increase its service to the Kingdom, Consul General Gfoeller was given a tour of the facility and the newly updated control room, where she was able to observe the latest technology in use.
The Consul General congratulated her hosts on their impressive installation and commented how all Jeddawis, including herself, are grateful for this most precious resource, water.
