No Reservation Needed to Enjoy the Food and Sights of Jeddah
The US Consulate General had the pleasure of screening American TV show ‘No Reservations Jeddah’ with young Saudi filmmaker Danya Alhamrani as special guest of honor. The evening kicked off with the guests enjoying delicious Al-Baik snacks and freshly popped popcorn. US Consul General Martin Quinn welcomed the audience with a short but heartfelt speech that signaled the start of the show.
‘No Reservations Fanatic Special’ is an episode of Travel Channel’s cooking show “No Reservations” hosted by Anthony Bourdain, a world renown chef, author and TV personality. Famous in her own right, Danya Alhamrani is an up and coming filmmaker who recently founded Eggdancer Production, an independent television production company based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Danya managed to convince Anthony to film an episode of his show in Jeddah in order to document the diverse food scene in his words “to dispel the myths and unravel the mysteries” of the Kingdom.
The screening lasted about an hour and was followed by a question and answer session where Danya enthusiastically answered the audience’s queries regarding her inspiration for the show, the host Anthony Bourdain and his experience in Jeddah, and her personal experience with the Travel Channel production crew.
All in all, it was a very successful and entertaining evening. Guests enjoyed the movie and the discussion session. The Consulate supports the work of members of the Jeddah community and looks forward to sponsoring further cultural events.
