Special Representative for Muslim Communities Farah Pandith's Ramadan Message to Saudi Arabia

A salaam aleykum.  My name is Farah Pandith, and I am the Special Representative to Muslim Communities at the US Department of State.

I would like to say “Ramadan Kareem” to all our friends in Saudi Arabia and offer my sincere best wishes for a joyous and reflective season.

The Special Representative to Muslim Communities is a new position in the US State Department.  It is a historic first and reflects the commitment of my government to partner, interact, learn and work together with Muslim communities around the world.  I am deeply honored to serve my country in this way and look forward to building closer partnerships in the coming years.

As an American Muslim, I know personally the importance of the Holy Month of Ramadan. It is a special time of the year that unites Muslims all over the world.  During this month, we pull away from our daily concerns and focus on our faith and on our families.  Differences among peoples, among groups in society, and among nations are minimized, as we all strive to stand with humility before God,

I wish you and all your families a blessed Month.  Taqqabal minna wa iyyakum  [translation: may God accept my fast and yours- a traditional Ramadan du’a]
