Earth Day 2009

US Consulate General Jeddah is pleased to participate in Earth Day activities scheduled from April 19-22, 2009 and organized by several Saudi organizations including the Meteorology and Environmental Protection Department, the Saudi Environmental Society, the Reef Chief, the Environment Youth Club, Priority Options and others. 

 

The 2008 Earth Day program in Jeddah was a success and generated a high level of local support and interest.  Earth Day is a time to celebrate achievements and to create new visions in order to accelerate environmental progress. Earth Day represents a time to act to protect our planet as well as a time to unite around new initiatives. 

 

The 2009 Earth Day program is extensive and will begin with an Opening Ceremony on Sunday April 19th at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ishmael Abo Dawood Hall auditorium.  Special speakers, lecturers and student sessions will take place from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm on Wednesday April 22 at the JCCI Ishmael Abo Dawood Hall auditorium. 

 

Clean-up days will take place on April 20 – 21 at Sharm Obhor, Barroom Land.  All supplies and materials will be provided by the organizers.  For volunteer information please contact:
