Dr. Scott Catino visits Jeddah

US Consulate General Jeddah hosted the visit of Dr. Scott Catino, a US Fulbright scholar in American History at the American Studies Center, University of Bahrain.  Dr. Catino presented a lecture at King Abdul Aziz University for over 100 students on the topics of US history and the current administration.  Students debated the topics amongst themselves and asked insightful questions. Consul General Martin Quinn hosted a reception for Fulbrightors and other US Exchange program alum in honor of Dr. Catino. Guests shared their experiences on the various programs and all highlighted the importance of exchange opportunities for cross-cultural understanding. 

Dr. Catino is a research specialist in modern U.S. History, including the topics of assimilation of ethnic minorities in America, political and social reform in the 20th century, and US foreign policy. Dr. Catino has taught American Studies courses at the University of Bahrain since 2007 and lectures on the subjects of American history, the US Constitution, and the assimilation and Americanization of Italian Americans. In addition to holding a Fulbright award, Scott has been a McCain Fellowship Scholar at the University of Southern Mississippi and a visiting scholar at Beijing University, China, and at various universities and research centers in the Philippines, Vietnam, and the United Arab Emirates. He is currently working on a book and a number of articles and papers. Scott is a member of the American Historical Association.
