Professor William Quandt visits Jeddah

US Consulate General Jeddah hosted the visit of Professor William Quandt who lectured and attended meetings at various prominent institutions throughout the Kingdom. During his visit to Jeddah, Dr. Quandt gave presentations for faculty and students at King Abdul-Aziz University and Dar El Hekma. Dr. Quandt also visited the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) headquarters and discussed with OIC officials OIC-US relations and prospects for cooperation. Dr. Quandt met with local journalists and addressed a number of questions and a range of topics based on his personal experience.

Dr. Quandt is a professor of politics and holds the Edward S. Stettinius Chair at University of Virginia. Prior to this appointment, he was a Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Studies Program at the Brookings Institution conducting research on the Middle East, American policy toward the Arab-Israeli conflict, and energy policy. Dr. Quandt served twice as a staff member on the National Security Council at which time he was actively involved in the negotiations that led to the Camp David Accords and the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty. Dr. Quandt has written numerous books and his articles have appeared in a wide variety of publications. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Board of Trustees of the American University in Cairo and the Foundation for Middle East Peace.
