Charles Williams and Tom Teasley live in Concert in Jeddah
“We have chosen words from philosophers, thinkers, people who are promoting unity and harmony and brotherhood and understand between peoples of all the world, that is what we do,” said vocalist Charles Williams during an interview with a few local newspapers in Jeddah. Charles Williams and Tom Teasley performed live in Jeddah, their last stop in the Kingdom after having performed in Riyadh and Dhahran.
Singer/actor Williams and global jazz percussionist Tom Teasley use the inspirational texts of authors such as Langston Hughes and Martin Luther King Jr. and blend them with innovative percussive rhythm and melodies, the end result being timeless tranditional verse evoked by a masterful blend of ethnic percussion and cutting-edge electronics.
They delivered a spirited performance that was enjoyed by both young and old. A diverse audience of more than 50 men and women came for the concert that was held at the consulate during the last week of October.
Their second CD Word-Beat has been recently released. "It presents an enthralling performance entitled The Soul Dances. Drawing heavily on various African proverbs and traditional African-American spirituals. Word-Beat delivers ancient wisdom wrapped in powerfully percussive grooves and uplifting melodies."
