The US Consulate General Jeddah hosted an evening entitled “Women in the Arts: Plays, Poetry & Photography” at the Consulate compound.  The event was a great success as it provided local artists with the opportunity to share their work and stories with each other and with a broad range of guests.  Held in March as part of International Women’s Month, the evening focused on the artistic accomplishments of Saudi women in Jeddah.  The evening also sought to highlight and support constructive outlets for expression and to encourage local talent.  The program featured art work, photography, poetry, information booths, song, skits and a discussion session from the following Saudi women and young ladies:

·         Susan Baaghil - Photographer

·         Samia Al Amoudi - Breast Cancer Awareness booth

·         Lina Gazzaz - Painter

·         Lama Al-Sharif - Poet

·         Raheed Bin Mahfouz - Poet

·         Eelaph Othman - Poet

·         Janna Baarmah - Singer

·         Esraa Al Harbi – Author of “My Mother and Breast Cancer”

·         Hind Alkarimi and Taif Kadasah - Dramatists

·         Help Center - weaving, crafts, soap making
